The District Election Management Plan for the 2014 election that is presented here seeks to give the reader a complete insight of all the stages and various facets of the electoral process. This document covers details ranging from the electoral profile of the district, the preparatory activities, law and order related issues, the electoral process and up to the counting to be held on 16th May 2014.
The introductory chapter seeks to give an overview of the city and the district of Ahmedabad to enable the reader to appreciate the socio-cultural profile of the district.
The district of Ahmedabad is the largest district in terms of the electoral population in the state of Gujarat. There are 21 Assembly Constituencies that are encompassed within the limits of the district. Further there are 5 Parliamentary Constituencies that are covered entirely or in part in Ahmedabad.
The District Election Officer and the entire team Ahmedabad associated with elections have a challenging task of ensuring smooth conduct of elections and of coordinating with 4 other Returning Officers and various public and private institutions for the LokSabha elections. Along with the orderly conduct of the polls, the team Ahmeadabad seeks to ensure a high turnout through sustained efforts towards Systematic Voter Education & Electoral Participation.
